Family Counselling

The purpose of family counselling is to develop and maintain healthy and functional family relationships. The counselling sessions help to identify and address ongoing problems in the family. Family interactions follow the systems theory which suggests that families work in systems, rather than groups of people who function independently of each other. Hence changes in one family member will cause changes in other members too. For example, if the mother becomes sick and cannot not attend to her children, children may exhibit behavioral issues at school. Similarly, fights between parents can make a child sick.

Parenting is a big responsibility. Parenting can be a challenge in nuclear families, single parent families and in blended families. Family counselling can broaden one’s understanding about those parenting challenges and help managing them.
